My story starts off simple…….
We’re newly married, bought a house, fixed it up slowly; taking vacations and enjoying live as a new couple. We both knew that kids were going to be a definite part of our lives, but instead of trying to have a baby, we took the “whatever happens happens” approach. I suppose you can say we starting trying to have a baby as soon as we got married.
One year passes, nothing happens. A few more months pass and I am becoming very concerned. I express my concerns to the doctor and they said everything is fine, don’t worry about anything, it will happen. Another year passes…..I don’t want to wait anymore; we go see a fertility specialist and tried artificial insemination on 2 separate occasions. They advised us to give it another chance, but doctors, treatments and medicine don’t come cheap. We decided to go through with IVF (this is very expensive, but has a much better chance of taking). We go though the process of injections and mediation to help prepare the body and the process of creating a baby just to find out that it has failed us once again.
The doctors were shocked; they can’t understand why this didn’t work. We’re young, health people with no medical problems. The doctors suggest acupuncture. Of course, I’m sickened by all of this and I’m thinking…..”Another doctor just taking our money”. Before I try the acupuncture, I decide to read up on what it is all about. I find it very interesting and know that attitude has a lot to do with what happens in live. I decide to try this natural way to try to get pregnant.
I call about 4 different acupuncturists in my area found in the Yellow Pages. I left messages at the offices for someone to call back. I didn’t think anyone was going to call back, but to my surprise, Dr. Tang, himself was the only one who called me back and we had a nice conversion about my situation. I felt very comfortable with my decision to go with Dr. Tang.
I saw Dr. Tang for acupuncture and chiropractic adjustments. Before going through IVF again, we wanted to make sure that my body was optimal for trying again. Once Dr. Tang gave me the OK, I made another appointment for another try for IVF. This time I also got acupuncture before and after the procedure. The only thing I could do was wait to see if IVF was a success this time.
Every couple of days I had to go in for blood work…….and then finally, blood work for a pregnancy test. I waited all day at home, with no expectations, actually dreading the phone call back…..but to my surprise, I got a POSITIVE result! The nurse on the phone had told me that my count was very high, which could me multiples!!!!!! I told my husband the good news, but kept the multiple baby news to ourselves, just in case something happened.
I kept going to Dr. Tang for treatments. He told me that he wanted to get as much blood flowing to the uterus to insure that the baby will latch on really good. He asked me if he could try something to see what I was having, boy or girl. Sure I said. I wasn’t going to find out the sex until I gave birth, and it was just a guess. He put his hand suspended over my lower stomach and pushed down on my arm a couple of times, without mentioning multiple births Dr. Tang told me I was going to have 2 boys. I started laughing because I couldn’t believe that he knew I was going to have twins.
9 months pass. I held the babies full term, 38 weeks and 5 days. I have two beautiful, healthy baby boys.
The weights of the babies were 7lbs 3ozs and 6lbs 13ozs. We called up Dr. Tang right away to tell him the news! We still can’t believe he was right about having two boys.
The only thing we can say is thank you to Dr. Tang, always be in good spirits and believe that all things will come in time!
